Quinta do Lago Golf – Portugal
Quinta do Lago is one of the best golf resorts in Europe.
Favoured by many of the European Tour golf pros for warm weather winter training (with 300 days of sun per annum) and fabulously designed golf courses , Quinta do Lago is home to 5 championship golf courses:
Laranjal (6 km from Wyndham Grand Algarve)
“Laranjal, originally an orange grove, is a sensational if not unique golf experience, with 18 holes integrated alongside existing water features. The narrow fairways and well-defended greens require concentration and accuracy to navigate a testing route laid out on rolling and distinctive terrain. It is par-72, 6,480 metres, with five par-fives, eight par-fours and five par-threes set amongst umbrella pines, cork-oaks and orange trees with natural water features and beautiful lakes. Penn A4 grass was selected for the greens to guarantee good putting surfaces all year round and the fairways were sown with Bermuda.”

Quinta do Lago North and South Courses
The 2 Quinta do Lago golf courses offer different challenges. Both have similar terrain: comprised of firm, sandy Algarvian soil, pine trees, heathers, gorses, beautiful wild flowers, and the natural woodland, pine setting and combination of undulating greens and water hazards ensure a unique experience and challenge to golfers of all standards.
What we say : “The ever changing landscape and layout means no two shots are the same while the next hole is as individual, as the previous.”
North Course – 18-hole golf course, 6,126m, par-72, Quinta do Lago.
South Course – 18-hole golf course, 6,488m, par-72, Quinta do Lago.
Pinheiros Altos
Pinheiros Altos golf course is quite unusual, with 18 holes surrounded by pine trees on a gentle rolling landscape and holes meandering between man-made lakes.
What we say : “The firm, fast and testing greens, sown with Pentcross Bent and combined with the Bermuda fairway grass, provide resilient and excellent surfaces on which to play golf and make Pinheiros Altos a must play course when visiting the Algarve.”
27-hole golf facility – 18-hole course: 6,236m, par-72 (36+36), Quinta do Lago. Buggy recommended.
San Lorenzo
“San Lorenzo Golf Course has become the showpiece golf course in the Algarve, with its superbly manicured fairways maintained by the greenkeeper’s policy of preparing it as if for a new tournament each and every day.
“San Lorenzo Golf Course designed by American Joseph Lee, opened in 1988 and remains in the memory of all who play it. The course is a combination of natural beauty, pristine presentation and hole after hole of challenging golf. Having received countless awards, the San Lorenzo Golf Course is considered one of the best golf courses, not only in Europe, but ranked worldwide.
“While much of the course meanders through typical pine woods, it also opens to magnificent views and distant mountain backdrops. A large part of the San Lorenzo Golf Course is virtually an extension of the nature reserve of the Ria Formosa Estuary with fairways that run alongside saltwater marshes and freshwater lagoons.”
What we say : ‘Playing on San Lorenzo is an unforgettable experience for all standards of players; however the lower handicap players are the ones who make the most of it.’
